Cape Town Pride is a non profit organisation celebrating the diversity of the city as well as creating awareness around issues which may impact on the LGBT community in Cape Town and throughout Africa.

The Pride festival is a newcomer compared to the likes of Sydney and New York as it was founded in 2001. Following the festival in 2002 a decision was made to revert back to its original identity and a long term strategy was developed, as such there was no festival in 2003 as it was postponed intil 2004 with an effort to attract gay tourism to the city. The months of February and March are traditionally the period in which Cape Town benefits from the greatest income from tourism and this has proved more successful with these well developed Gay Pride events.
